Can I work while applying for disability? So, this is a tricky question. You obviously cannot be working full-time. The very first question that Social Security is going to ask is, are you working? And if you are working full-time, then you are not eligible for disability. However, there are always some exceptions. There are people that are able to work part-time as long as you make under a certain amount. Maybe if you're working part-time and they're giving you a lot of accommodations, that might work. However, any work is going to trigger the judge to say, "What's going on here?" Because the majority of people that are disabled are not currently working. Sometimes there's an attempt to work and we can take note of that. But the most important thing is that you're honest with me and you let me know immediately if you're working so that we can talk through that and what it means for your case.
