What should you do immediately following an auto accident? First thing, make sure you're OK. That's the most important thing is your health. Call 911 if you're able. Hopefully, if not, someone else is able to call 911. Comply with law enforcement, comply with the ambulance. Once all the things at the scene are taken care of, you want to make sure that if you're in pain you're getting medical treatment. If you're in pain and not getting medical treatment, then it doesn't prove to the insurance company that you're having problems. The medical records give us the documentation that you're having that pain. So, you want to be truthful and honest at all times with what your pain is for a couple of reasons. One because you want to be honest about what's going on with you and two, you don't want to downplay your symptoms either. Sometimes, after a car accident, you might not know exactly what hurts until a day or two later and then you'll start having pain, so if that's what happens, just make sure you get to the doctor as soon as possible. You don't want to wait before you get medical treatment. Also, at the scene of the accident, if you're able to take pictures, that would be really great. Take pictures of the vehicles, take pictures of where things happened. See if you see any eyewitnesses to the collision and make sure you take note of who they are. Sometimes, the officer will do that on the accident report. Once you come to us, we'll get a copy of the accident report and we'll be able to start that process as well but anything that you've done on the front end is also really helpful to us. After you've made sure you're OK, you've been to the doctor, call us here at Jebaily Law Firm. My friends, my family, they text me immediately, they let me know what's going on. We want you to do the same thing because that's what we're here for. We're here to serve you, to make sure that you have all the answers that you need as quickly as possible.
