SUMMARY:Robert Garey: Life and Times | Artist Talk and Reception
DESCRIPTION:Robert Garey was born in Richmond\, VA in 1952 and moved with his family to Florence in 1959. He attended art classes at Francis Marion University from 1973-1974 studying under Steven Gately. In 1977 he moved to Charleston where he kept a studio and pursued his art of drawing and painting for nine years. Garey then moved to New York City in 1986\, where he lived for twenty-six years. While in New York\, he studied at the Art Students League and at the New York Academy of Art and obtained an MFA in painting. Along with studying and maintaining a fine art studio\, Garey worked as a freelance muralist. Garey also found work painting custom signs for local businesses and working specifically for the Sotheby’s Auction House where he painted reproduction masterpieces. Beginning at 4 p.m.\, fans are invited to the Florence-Darlington Technical College staging area\, where they can take photos with their favorite haulers while enjoying music and food from local vendors. The haulers will depart Florence-Darlington Technical College at 6 p.m. and make their way to historic Darlington Raceway where they will load into the NASCAR Cup Series Garage. The route will take the parade north on U.S. 52 into downtown Darlington and then out to the track on West Smith Avenue.

DESCRIPTION:The North Myrtle Beach Rotary is hosting a Fundraiser at 3001 Nightlife.  The fundraiser is to Create Awareness to Human Trafficking.  The event is themed a Speakeasy.  3001 will become the Stork Club that night. A few classic cars will be parked outside for photo ops.  The Karen and Carl Duo will be playing in Bourbon Cowboy and the Z Street Speakeasy Band from Orlando will be in Club Rewind.  Christopher Robbins and his dance troupe will be in the house and dancing with guests. Hors d’oeuvres will be passed and guest speakers will make you aware of what is happening with human trafficking and what the community can do to create awareness and prevention.
