SUMMARY:Robert Garey: Life and Times | Artist Talk and Reception
DESCRIPTION:Robert Garey was born in Richmond\, VA in 1952 and moved with his family to Florence in 1959. He attended art classes at Francis Marion University from 1973-1974 studying under Steven Gately. In 1977 he moved to Charleston where he kept a studio and pursued his art of drawing and painting for nine years. Garey then moved to New York City in 1986\, where he lived for twenty-six years. While in New York\, he studied at the Art Students League and at the New York Academy of Art and obtained an MFA in painting. Along with studying and maintaining a fine art studio\, Garey worked as a freelance muralist. Garey also found work painting custom signs for local businesses and working specifically for the Sotheby’s Auction House where he painted reproduction masterpieces. DESCRIPTION:Journey to downtown North Myrtle Beach to delight in the sounds of a live band on Main Street. Families are encouraged to come downtown after work or after a long day on the beach to experience the many restaurants of Main Street\, listen to live music\, shop\, and dance til’ you drop. Kick back and unwind with us in your beach chair on Main Street. \nMain Street will be restricted to pedestrian traffic only from Ocean Boulevard to the ocean side of Melt Ice Cream and to the ocean side of Main Street Sweets. Concert goers may bring chairs to sit in this area to listen to the concert.
